Subject: SEXUAL DISCRIMINATION AGAINST MEN AT StLCC

In December I had difficulty choosing classes to take. My first choices were PSY 214: Psychology of Gender and HST 206: Women in the 20th Century. My recent Master’s Project (<<< Click here to access) addressed comparative gender aggression. Like every other basic human attribute, it found the sexes equally violent and abusive. I have since read most leading theorists and much of the research dealing with sex/gender, as well as feminism. After several years of study, I had not found a single claim in the feminist movement that holds up under holistic empirical or objective scientific scrutiny. Thus I felt it might be interesting to see how far feminist ideology, cultural distortions, and fallacious data had filtered-down and penetrated entry-level college classes.
After visiting the book store and scanning various available texts, I decided not to enroll in these classes. I thought I had found my answer: “Any class that focuses on gender or women is probably dominated by feminist propaganda.” And we ought to make no mistake about it – feminism is solely a tacit/informal political activist movement. It is not about reality or truth. I felt that presenting feminist social idealism and manipulated data as though they were actually empirical and scientific facts was ethically and morally improper in publicly funded educational classrooms filled with inherently trusting, topically naïve, and highly impressionable students.
Instead, I chose two other classes that appeared unlikely to include feminist tainted information. Unfortunately, after reading ahead in the text for HMS 205: Crisis Intervention, I encountered two chapters dealing with partner violence and sexual assault that are filled with feminist distortions of cultural realities, fallacious reporting of the preponderance of reliable research (i.e. gender-balanced/dual-sex studies), and basic diatribe about males vs. females.
I am deeply troubled and concerned by what I found in that textbook and other courses at SLCC. I can’t request more strongly that every effort be put forth to prohibit content like that in Chapters 6 & 7 of the above text from every course at the college. Such blatant discrimination against men and complete lack of intellectual integrity simply do not belong in education at any level, much less in the first two years of college. Such biased, prejudiced, and maliciously false data reeks of an underlying philosophy of misandry. Neither claims that: (1) women are substantially more violent, abusive, and aggressive (i.e. when they are in fact equal); nor (2) Blacks/Latinos are substantially less intelligent than Whites (i.e. when no significant differences actually exist) would ever be similarly allowed. I hope to hear from someone in this regard soon.
In the final analysis, I found dealing with patently discriminatory and demeaning information about males (thus indirectly me personally) intolerable. Encountering it in this way has distracted and upset me enough that I am no longer able to remain focused and adequately motivated. Since it is too late to shift to an audit basis, I am notifying you that I want to withdraw.

Sincerely,

Doug Baker
